NO ONE LIVES ON THE STREET VOLUNTARILY
We call them "The Outsiders Outside." People who have fallen through the cracks of our society and have to live on the streets. People whose lives have been derailed and who have to live on the streets. More and more of them every year in Germany.
We cannot alleviate their suffering in a life-or-death way. But at least we can ensure that they don't freeze to death out there.
That's why many donations and a large part of our membership fees have been going into our "666 sleeping bags for the Outsiders outside" campaign for years.
That's why every winter we distribute sleeping bags to people in need through our local chapters. Directly on site in cooperation with local aid organizations.
IT STARTED WITH CORONA
The idea for the campaign originated in the first year of the pandemic, 2020, shortly after Metality was founded. With the pandemic, all festivals and open-air concerts were cancelled. And that left not only us screwed, but also many homeless people.

It has been a good tradition for years that after festivals and open-air concerts, everything left behind by metalheads is collected. This often includes many sleeping mats, sleeping bags, and tents. In the past, these items were then given away to those who really needed them.
But where there's no festival, there's no sleeping bag!
Together with the Hamburg-based aid organization Hanseatic Help https://www.hanseatic-help.org/ That's why we launched our "666 Sleeping Bags for the Outsiders Outside" campaign back then, little knowing what a success story it would become.
To date, we have been able to collect, buy new, and distribute over 5,000 sleeping bags to people in need throughout Germany!
But winter is just around the corner again this year. That's why we're asking for your donation once more. And as always, we guarantee that every euro will be used to purchase sleeping bags, sleeping mats, tents, and camping stoves, and will reach the right recipients.

FOR THE OUTSIDERS OUTSIDE
In 2021, the festival season also fell victim to Corona. It's such a great tradition that after festivals and open-air concerts, everything the metalheads leave behind is collected. This often includes many sleeping mats, sleeping bags and tents. In the past, they were then given away to those who really needed them.
But: where there is no festival – there is no sleeping bag!

Chapter Saarland is involved with a second donation to the Diakonisches Werk Saarbrücken.
Chapter Berlin brought its lifesavers to the Berlin Angel for the Needy eV and to the Lichtenberg Homeless Aid (unfortunately without a photo).
Fundraising campaigns like Metality eV’s “666 Sleeping Bags” require strong partners. 
Hanseatic Help and Metality once again formed an unbeatable team this season. While Metality, as the initiator, mobilized its network to identify as many people as possible who needed sleeping bags and collect donations for the campaign from its own community, Hanseatic Help handled the ordering and delivery of sleeping bags to aid organizations throughout Germany.
A collaboration that worked perfectly this year as well: In the end, we were even able to buy 2x 666 sleeping bags with your donations and deliver them to 30 aid organizations in Bruchsal, Karlsruhe, Frankfurt, Hamm, Krefeld, Chemnitz, Mönchengladbach, Hamburg, Lübeck, Mannheim, Heidelberg, Bonn, Cologne, Ludwigshafen, Bielefeld, Bremen, Leipzig, Berlin, Lichtenberg, Dresden, Dortmund, Heilbronn, Koblenz, Ravensburg, Kaiserslautern, in Saarland and in the district of Calw.
Rising prices, declining willingness to donate, and limited resources available to public authorities have created serious gaps in the provision of basic necessities for local aid organizations serving homeless people. We're working together to alleviate some of this need.
These sleeping bags aren't just a social gesture – Hanseatic Help eV organizes special, functional sleeping bags that provide protection against hypothermia in extreme winter weather conditions down to -23 degrees Celsius, thus saving lives. It's not about cozy warmth, but the difference between life and death!
