THE BACKLINE
The backline is where the Metality magic happens...
Okay, it's not as romantic as that.
The working backline focuses on "working," supports the board (Florian, Sylvia, Chris, Patrick), and thus ensures that everything runs smoothly as a team. We all work for Metality on a voluntary basis, but none of us work for free!

His love of heavy music has been with him from a very early age - the live music and experiences since his first Guns 'n Roses concert at the age of 13. When he was 19 he went to Wacken for the first time - since then he has been to Wacken 20 more times. Countless other festivals and concerts followed.
NWOBHM, Thrash Metal and Power Metal are his favorite genres. At concerts he is almost always in the mosh pit.
In addition to his work on the Metality Board, he is also Chapter Head Frankfurt and is also involved in all sorts of other areas of the club.
He is also deeply committed to networking among Metality chapters and the internationalization of Metality. Since he works as a lawyer during his daytime, he also handles Metality's legal matters and formalities.
Sylvia and METALITY - it was love at first sight! From the very first moment she was convinced by the cause and became part of the backline at the beginning of 2021. She is now taking over the position of 2nd chairwoman of the board of directors.
Sylvia has a very broad range of metal music. She is undoubtedly at home in classic heavy metal à la Manowar, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Saxon and the usual suspects, but basically anything goes that you like. In any case, she enjoys one thing: singing along. Loudly and out of tune, but extremely happy.
In her free time, she is on the road with the band "DEFENDER - The most authentic Manowar Tribute", nurses orphaned kittens and is always willing to listen to anyone. This fits in well with her job, as she is self-employed and runs a psychotherapy practice.
Sylvia heads up the Merch-Gang, guardian of our logo and also takes care of all the material we need. But she is also involved in the planning of our events, chapter work and sponsorship projects.
Patrick is a founding member and a member of the board (as secretary) of METALITY eV
He has loved Bay Area thrash metal (Metallica, Exodus, Death Angel, Testament, Slayer...) since the late 80s, but basically enjoys taking in a show of any non-keyboard metal combo.
It's hard to believe, but as a homesick Swiss person, he has lived in Hamburg for 23 years now and feels right at home there with his wife Corinne, and Lemmy, their golden retriever.
Contrasts are everywhere in his life: in his job, in his love of music and in photography. And in everything in between.
Many of the Metality club pictures that you see here on the website are his. Photography is one of his true passions for his free time. And another passion of his? Drumming.
Patrick brings a little more order to our work events than you would normally give a bunch of metalheads credit for. And that's a damn good thing.
He's been a metalhead since he was young, in the mid 80's. First touchpoints
were Iron Maiden and Running wild. But there was also a bit of “Hair” Metal too; - unfortunately there is very little left of that today 😊 The Onkelz were also a must back then.
His first concert was a stranger to the genre - the "Abstürzenden Brieftauben", in front of what felt like no more than 50 people. Sebastian Krüger's legendary Ratman (Risk) still adorns the background of his smartphone today.
In addition to the classics of the metal scene, his spectrum is pretty wide. Power metal and thrash
are always good. But he also plays In Flames, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy or Lacuna Coil in his car, up to eleven. But he does avoid the really hard stuff. Every year he looks forward to the W:O:A and generally to the big family of metal fans. He covers the time in between with regular concert visits in and around Frankfurt a. M. or in North Rhein Westfalia.
Not only at Metality is he a bean counter. He earns his bread and butter as a merchant
Managing Director at a large German service provider.
Chrissy joined Metality in June 2023. She saw the patch on a friend's jacket, asked her about it, researched it and became a member. With the support of the chapter head from Erzgebirge and another member, she founded Leipzig ChapterShortly afterwards, at the legendary Chapterhead and Backline meeting in Uehlfeld, it was clear: There was no reason to hold back any more! Köpper with a run-up to the best community in the world!
At Metality, she found in real life what she had only known on a small scale from online communities: extremely nice people who are there for each other, who work together to organize great campaigns for others, have fun together and listen to cool music.
Besides being chapter head and the backline, Chrissy is in the road gang “You’ll never rock alone”. Metal is for everyone and is even more fun together.
And because the world just can never get enough Metal(ity) spirit, they push it in the social media gang Together with Marc, supported by other creative minds, we're bringing everything about Metality into the airwaves. Spread the awesomeness!
She has been working as an auditor for the association since 2024.
Even as a child, Chrissy liked guitar sounds, rock and hard rock. In the early 90s, her sister let her watch MTV to see what rock bands were doing in the charts. As a teenager, she quickly ended up with the few alternative, punk, metal and goth bands in the small town in northern Saxony where she grew up. It was during this time that she finally healed from radio pop. For Chrissy, there is nothing better than crashing guitar and drum sounds that hammer into your gut. (Okay, there are occasional excursions into darkwave, EBM, folk or quiet bands, but that can happen to anyone...)
Carsten joined Metality in mid-2021. After founding and building the Chapters Karlsruhe It wasn't until early 2023 that he joined the backline. As a member of the Festival Gang, he is responsible for coordinating and renting booth packages to the chapters throughout Germany. He is also part of the Members Gang and supports the Event Gang at the Chapter Head Meeting, Members' Meeting, and the Metality Metal Meeting.
Carsten discovered metal at just under 10 years old, when bands like Accept, Saxon, Manowar, and Running Wild were preparing to conquer the metal universe in the early/mid 80s. To this day, he remains passionate about classic heavy metal as well as power, speed, and thrash metal. He is particularly fond of the metal underground, with its many small bands that give their all on stage with passion and money far in the background.
Claudia is a founding member of Metality eV
After she heard Machine Head and Clawfinger for the first time, she was hooked. From then on, her family had to live with unusual loud music coming from her room. Her most favorite band is and remains Life of Agony.
She is also together with Judith and Jens Chapter head Hamburg, is active in all social projects with and supports various events, as well as the social media gang.
The feeling, the mindset of togetherness, the authenticity, the solidarity and this huge heart that unites us as a music genre worldwide. It was clear that something had to be done with all of these positive things. And so Metality was born. And it feels damn fantastic that this idea has now been brought to life.
In her spare time, she pursues something that's quite different: She is a qualified yoga instructor and tries to find her balance in yoga as often as possible. But is it really different? Not completely, because just like with metal, in yoga you are exclusively in this. One. Current. Moment. And both yoga and metal give you an incredible amount of energy.
Her roots are in Berlin, but she is a born "northern light", geographically speaking - working in Wacken and living near Hamburg. She loves the land in Northern Germany between the North and Baltic Seas, likes to be on the coast, and being in nature in general.
Thomas has been a member of Metality since 2022 and is busy in the field Roadgang Website/IT, in the backline and as chapter head Rhein-Neckar and Odenwald.
The love for metal began in his school days, when he listened to the records of three quarters of the Big 1980 (Metallica, Anthrax and Slayer) over and over in the late 1990s/early 4s and was met with a lot of incomprehension at school with his cross and cowl upside down and eye rolling. Meanwhile, the classics are still in vogue, but mainly death metal, power metal and metalcore round out the playlist.
In his family, Thomas has done everything right, at least with his daughter Hanna: she now listens to heavier stuff than he does, is also enthusiastic about Metality and accompanies her proud dad to many concerts and festivals.
His daily routine involves process optimization, transformation projects and digital collaboration with his customers and he now brings exactly these skills and his experience to Metality - with the aim of making our fast-growing association digitally more and more powerful.
In 2017, Marc accidentally came into the orbit of those ("Finally normal people!") who were philosophizing about a construct that is now called metality. Excited about the idea, he couldn't miss the club's awakening in 2020. Since then, he has been based in the Hessian financial metropolis Chapter Frankfurt out around the Social Media Topics and supports Website and IT.
At the age of eight, Marc got on the right path to melodious guitar music - via Guns'N'Roses and Metallica. Today the lineup is a bit broader: (NWOB) Heavy, Thrash, Power & Speed Metal always works. New suggestions are regularly pursued, only with Death Metal and Co. does he give up.
With a professional background in digital transformation and compliance, Marc really appreciates how the club sticks together in a decentralized manner and adapts to challenges in an exemplary manner - without the people's great mindset changing. Therefore: whichever metalhead reads this, register!
Thorsten, better known as "Toto," is a creative mind from Cologne. As a passionate graphic designer, he not only lives out his ideas in his job, but also brings them with full power to us in the METALITY association.
In 2022, Toto joined us – inspired by Nico Rose’s book – and got straight to work: shortly after joining, he took on the role of Co-Chapterheads for Cologne/BonnNot only does he get involved in social projects, but he also quickly became part of our graphics and merch gang.
Today, Toto is an integral part of our backline and a driving force in the club’s external communications.
Musically, his metal heart has been beating for the great classics like Iron Maiden, Warlock and Accept since the 80s. But he is also no stranger to the harder stuff - on his jacket you can find patches from Amon Amarth, Kataklysm, Fear Factory, Behemoth and Illdisposed. And hopefully soon from Torture Killer too.
Ralf was already part of Awakening 2020 and has been a member of Metality ever since.
Since September 2021, Ralf is Chapterhead of Chapter Lübeck and in the backline since 2023.
Ralf belongs to the Roadgang Website/IT He mainly looks after the website.
Ralf came to metal in the late 1980s via "Guns'N'Roses", "AC/DC" and "Metallica". In the meantime he is open to every metal genre, whereby speed and power metal are favorites.
Alexander joined the organization in mid-2022. After learning about Metality and the ideas behind it, it was immediately clear: "I have to be a part of this! I've been looking for something like this for a long time."
He founded the Chapter Mecklenburg-West Pomerania and gained his first personal impressions of the club's work at Metal Hammer Paradise 2022. Since then, he has been involved in Backlines mainly in the Members Gang, Website/IT, and Events.
Alexander discovered the hard rock sound in his youth. He occasionally experimented with Eminem and other influences, but ultimately, metal prevailed. Today, Alexander primarily listens to heavy metal, power metal, and symphonic metal. However, medieval sounds and melodic death metal also regularly feature on his playlist.
Jens has been there since mid-2022. In the midst of burnout, the book "Hard, Heavy & Happy" by Metality founding member Nico Rose gave the starting signal to join the Black Dog Gang.
Today Jens is a backliner and part of the management team of Black dog- and members gang. In addition, he leads, together with Claudia and Judith, the Hamburg Chapter.
Jens has been fond of hard rock since early childhood and today listens to (almost) everything from classic rock to extreme metal, but is not part of the "metal-only" faction.
Professionally as a QM manager, he brings his quality and process thinking to Metality.
Jan heard Iron Maiden songs even before he was born, in the womb.
His first metal live concert was Iron Maiden - Dance of Death World Tour in Dortmund in 2003. The title song is still his favorite Maiden song today.
He always has a funny saying on his lips and even though his chapter in Hamm isn't even close to the coast, he's a Viking at heart.
Musically he is broadly based, his favorite genres are NWOBHM (e.g. Maiden), Powermetal (e.g. Powerwolf, Sabaton), Epicmetal (e.g. Manowar), Melodic Death (e.g. Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy) and everything else that sounds cool.
Jan is also very active with us. In addition to his work as chapter head for the Chapter Hamm He is in our event gang, supervises the beer tastings and the sleeping bag campaign at the W:O:A
Manuel has been with Metality since September 2022.
Since childhood, he has been intensively involved with social commitment and the values that shape our society. These topics are particularly important to him.
As chapter head in Upper Swabia He is responsible for our local Metality community. It's great to bring people together and share the passion for metal.
In his role as CO-Lead at ME:TALENT He supports children and young people in developing their talents and promoting their education. A fulfilling task!
His wardrobe consists almost entirely of band shirts. Music is his passion and he lives it every day.
It's great fun to bring Metality into the world and tell interested people what we do. He has already made many friends through Metality - a fantastic experience!
Liane has been with Metality since May 2023. She found her way into the metal scene and harder music in 2017, when she met her new partner and later husband.
At her first concerts, she quickly realized that the solidarity and passion within the metal community are unparalleled. Her first major festival adventure followed at W:O:A 2023, and since then, she has been performing at several events throughout Germany every year.
At Metality, Liane works mainly in the BlackDog- and Event GangLiane loves to distribute Metality merchandise whenever possible. She's a member of the backline and spends a lot of time sending out BlackDog wristbands, member patches, and informational materials.
Liane mainly listens to medieval rock/metal, symphonic and power metal.
