The foundation for Osnabrück's connection with the metal scene was laid in the late 70s, 80s, and early 90s. People like the now-deceased concert promoter Carlo Korte and Conny Overbeck, the former owner of the legendary Hyde Park, whose brief closure even prompted news coverage of the "Punk Riots in Osnabrück," brought bands like Accept, Doro, Metallica, Pretty Maids, Saxon, and Slayer, to name just a few, to venues like Hyde Park or Halle Gartlage.
From the mid-2000s onward, the Bastard Club and the Hardcore Family eV provided another nationally renowned institution for alternative music and subculture. Venues like the Rosenhof and the newly opened Botschaft continue to provide the scene with electric guitar music.
Then as now, Osnabrück was and remains a top destination for well-known, current, and new metal and hard rock bands. As a result, Osnabrück has had numerous fans of harder music across generations for decades, who attended the same concerts but often didn't know each other personally. The founding of the Metality Chapter Osnabrück in May 2023 marked the beginning of networking among them.
Since then, we metal(ity)heads have been meeting regularly for concerts, festivals, cozy pub evenings, hiking, or communal whisky tastings.
We're trying to spread the Metality message to the public. Starting with a small information booth in the stairwell of the Ostbunker, continuing with the OS-FEAST in Hyde Park, and finally, the stage at Herrenteichswall during May Week.
Beyond the borders of Osnabrück, we have already formed close ties with our friends from the neighboring Münster chapter and visit and support each other as often as possible.
