Between the Harz and the Heath; between Salzgitter Stahl and Volkswagen, that's exactly where Braunschweig is. Home of one of many chapters in beautiful Lower Saxony.
Braunschweig has been playing an important role in hard music for almost 50 years.
On September 27, 1977, the Young brothers played together with Bon Scott, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd in front of just 80 visitors before their big breakthrough in 1979 with “Highway to Hell”.
Almost 20 years later, the trash metal band Headshot was founded in 1993 and has achieved great success in both Germany and the USA over the past 30 years.
But Braunschweig is so much more. Due to the Carolina-Wilhelmina Braunschweig (also called TU Braunschweig), which was founded more than 250 years ago, the city of Henry the Lion has a varied nightlife.
In addition to the usual large-area discos, there are also places to go for fans of harder music, including the corner bar “Klaue”, the Stereowerk and the Westend with changing concerts and theme parties as well as the Schabreu for social beer evenings, to name just a few.
Braunschweig is also the home of “Rock in Rautheim”, the largest inclusion-meets-rock idea, organized by Lebenshilfe Braunschweig.
Since 2002, people with and without disabilities have been working hand in hand on a very special event, and since 2018 even on a larger scale as a festival.
In 2022 also with international greats such as the “Brothers of Metal” and the “Grailknights”.
In 2024, the organizers are looking forward to “April Art”, “Rage and the Lingua Mortis Orchestra” as well as “Dirkschneider” and other top-class bands.
All in all, definitely a place that you can visit as a metalhead. Because here too there are Extreme.Nice People in the Braunschweig chapter, who also have their own playlist on Spotify...
